Wolves Face West Chester In NCAA National Semifinals

The #1 seeded Newberry College Wolves (19-0) will attempt to continue their history making season as they face #5 seeded West Chester (14-6) at 11:00 a.m. at Steph Pettit StadiumĀ  on the campus of Bloomsburg, Pa. in the NCAA Division 2 national semifinals.

The Wolves won the 2025 South Atlantic Conference regular season and postseason tournament titles and defeated Bentley (Mass.) 4-1 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Setzler Field.

West Chester lost in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference postseason tournament semifinals to #2 national seed Kutztown.

The Golden Rams bounced back and won at #4 seed and fellow PSAC school East Stroudsburg 2-0 to advance to the national semifinals.

The Wolves are making their first ever NCAA Division 2 Tournament appearance while the Rams are making their 10th trip.Ā 

West Chester has won three national titles (2011, 2012, 2019)Ā and advanced to the 2021 title game.

The two teams met earlier this year in West Chester back on September 20 with Newberry winning 3-0.

Finet Heemskerk and Wibien Dahmen scored second period goals while Dahmen added a third period goal and Ayanda Mangenah made 12 saves to pace the Wolves.

The Golden Rams are led by first team All-PSAC selections Gianna FunariĀ  andĀ Veerle HersmanĀ along with second team selectionsĀ Ella ShockleyĀ andĀ Caitlynn Szarko, and third team pickĀ Sofia Brown.

Hersman is the Golden Rams leading scorer with 16 goals followed by seven goals from Szarko.

The Wolves feature first team All-South Atlantic Conference picks Wibien Dahmen, Emma Westbrok, Parker Keeler and Payton Keeler.Ā  Payton Keeler was also named the MVP of the SAC Postseason Tournament.

Newberry also features second team All-SAC selections Amber Tozana, Ayanda Mangenah, Lieke Varenkamp and Emma Hulsmeyer.

Parker Keeler leads the nation in assists (1.05) and points per game (3.05) and is third in goals per game (1.00).Ā  Westbrook is second in goals per game (1.16) and third in points per game (2.47) whlle Dahmen is seventh in goals per game (0.84).Ā  Mangenah is second in the nation in fewest goals allowed per game (0.67).

The Wolves lead the nation in goals per game (5.22) and scoring margin (+4.54).

Westbrook is the school record holder for most career goals (59) and points (129) while Parker Keeler is the school record holder for most career assists (30) and is second to Westbrook in career points (108).

The winner of Friday's game faces the winner of #2 seed Kutztown and #3 Shippensburg Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
