HICKORY, NC - The Newberry College men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw at Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday evening in South Atlantic Conference action at the Moretz Sports Athletic Complex.
The Bears opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, but the Wolves rallied in the second half. In the 78th minute, Tomás Queirós netted the equalizer, finishing a setup from George Rathmill for his second goal of the season.
Goalkeeper Charlie Clark was strong in net, making three first-half saves to keep the Wolves within striking distance. Newberry outshot the Bears 10-18 but placed five shots on goal, and the defense held firm to secure the result.
With the tie, the Wolves move to 4-1-2 on the season and look ahead to their next match vs. Bob Jones University on Tuesday at 7pm.
