The Wolves struck first when Varenkamp converted off a feed from Karlijn Frenken in the 13th minute. Newberry then erupted for three goals in the second quarter to take a commanding 4–0 halftime lead, including a strike from Hulsmeyer and a pair of Keeler connections.
