NEWBERRY, S.C. – The
No. 3-ranked Newberry Wolves continued their dominant season Tuesday night, defeating Coker University 8–0 at Setzler Field to officially claim the
2025 South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championship. The win also marked
Head Coach Hannah Dave's 95th career victory at the helm of the Newberry program.
Newberry's offense was unstoppable, firing off 33 shots with 20 on goal while holding the Cobras to just four total attempts.
Payton Keeler led the charge with
two goals and two assists, while
Parker Keeler added
two goals and one assist.
Lieke Varenkamp, Emma Hulsmeyer, Emma Westbrook, and
Wibien Dahmen each found the back of the cage to round out the scoring.
The Wolves struck first when Varenkamp converted off a feed from Karlijn
Frenken in the 13th minute. Newberry then erupted for three goals in the second quarter to take a commanding 4–0 halftime lead, including a strike from Hulsmeyer and a pair of Keeler connections. Westbrook and Dahmen each scored in the fourth quarter before
Payton Keeler completed her hat trick in the 54th minute to secure the 8–0 final.
Defensively, the Wolves were dominant
allowing no penalty corners and just one shot on goal, which was turned aside by freshman goalkeeper
Olivia Zavacki. The shutout marked Newberry's
seventh of the season.
With the win, Newberry improves to 13–0 overall and 9–0 in SAC play, remaining unbeaten in conference action and securing the regular season title. The Wolves return to Setzler Field this Saturday, October 25 at 1 p.m. as they continue regular-season play. Newberry will also serve as the host site for the 2025 SAC Tournament Semifinals and Finals, set for November 7–9 at Setzler Field. Karlijn
