HARTSVILLE, SC – The Newberry College women's soccer team battled throughout the evening but fell 3-0 to Coker University on Wednesday night.
The Cobras scored all three of their goals in the first half, while Newberry's defense tightened up to hold them scoreless in the second. Goalkeeper Madison Gutierrez was strong between the posts, recording eight saves (four in each half) to keep the Wolves within reach.
Offensively, Natalie Ruiz and Ava Espinoza each registered shots on goal, while Mikaela Warburton added two shot attempts. The Wolves limited Coker to just five shots after halftime.
With the result, the Wolves move to 5-3-1 overall and 1-3 in South Atlantic Conference play and look to bounce back this weekend at home vs. Wingate at 1pm on Saturday.
