RECAP: Newberry College women's soccer dominated in their season opener game, winning 5-0, on Thursday (September 5th) versus Shorter University. The Wolves scored three goals in the first half and added on two more in the second half.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• Newberry jumped out to an early lead in the first 15 minutes, with duo Becca Lipp and Emily Castaneda both scoring. Lipp put two balls in the back of the net with Castaneda assisting on both.

• Moving to the 27th minute, Lillian Miller scored unassisted with a top shelf strike. The Wolves led 3-0 at the end of the first half.

• The Wolves took no breaks in the second half of play. In the 51st minute, Kirsty Cameron booted the Wolves fourth goal of the day.

• Not even a minute later (52'), Bella Gonzalez got herself on the board with the third assist of the night for Castaneda.

• Newberry outlasted Shorter, as they held them to no shot in the last 35 minutes of play. This was Newberry's first win and first shutout of the season.
