RECAP: Another strong defensive performance puts Newberry back in the shutout column, after a 1-0 thriller vs. Tusculum. The Wolves have allowed only one goal in the first six matches of the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Waller, along with defensive pair Emily Castaneda and Kelsey Brustuen held the Pioneers scoreless and paved the way for the Wolves fifth win of the season.

Tusculum began their offensive push first, sending a bottom center shot that keeper, Waller, made easy work of.

The Wolves jumped on the scoreboard early in the first half with a goal from freshman forward Lilly Miller in the 26', for her second goal of the season. Assisted by Castaneda.

The Pioneers took this personally and came out firing. This was no match for Waller who stopped two consecutive top shelf shots. (27', 31')

A strong defensive front held the Pioneers scoreless through the rest of half one.

Waller was key in half two, piling three more saves to her tally by 65'.

Tusculum wouldn't give up, but Newberry's defensive performance was second to none, blocking every shot and shutting down every corner the Pioneers threw at them.
