SALISBURY, N.C. – Competing in the South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championships at The Country Club of Salisbury Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, the Newberry College women's golf team took home an eighth-place finish at 78-over for the week.
Anderson won the tournament at 27-over, followed by Limestone (+51), Lincoln Memorial, Catawba and Wingate, all tied at +54.
Nicole Strydom showed the way for the Wolves throughout the tournament, improving from an opening-round 79 to shoot a pair of 75s on Monday and Tuesday on the par-71 course to finish at 16-over in 19th place individually out of 65.
Noelia Adkins tied for 24th with rounds of 75-79-78, shooting 19-over. Adkins tied for the second most birdies in the field – which were hard to come by – with three, tied for ninth in par-4 scoring, and tied for seventh in par-5 scoring.
Sofia Liden wound up in a tie for 31st after carding a pair of 76s in the first two rounds and an 81 in her final round to finish at +20. Liden had the most pars for the Wolves (12), was tied for seventh in par-5 scoring alongside teammate Adkins, and had one birdie over her trio of rounds.
Julie Hoscalkova (38th) saved her best round for last with a 75 today after shooting an 80 in the opening round and 81 yesterday. Finishing at 23-over, Hoscalkova had 10 pars and a pair of birdies while joining Adkins and Liden in par-5 scoring average, tying for seventh best in the field.
Ashton Thomas was 50-over for the tournament and finished in a tie for 54th with five pars and a birdie.
