Wolves Pushed To The Edge By Cobras

Newberry, S.C. - Men's tennis comes up short against Coker 3-4 in Wednesday's afternoon match up. The Wolves pushed the Cobras to the very last singles match in three sets.

Singles play showed a strong come back against the Cobras after being down after doubles. Three Wolves found a win with victory a hair to far out of reach.

James Vincent had himself an impressive first set where he took the lead and never looked back. He defeated his opponent 6-2. In the second set, Vincent played a tie breaker where he emerged victorious 7-6.

Joshua Fritz got busy for his win of the day. In set one, Fritz went into a tie breaker where he came out on top 7-6. In set two he wasted no time getting the Wolves in come back position as he took the set 6-0.

The last win of the day came from David Negzaoui. Neighboring courts with Fritz, Negzaoui was able to watch as he moved the Wolves into striking distance and did not disappoint. A tight 6-4 first set put Negzaoui on top to finish the job in set two. Keeping the momentum Negzaoui tied the match 3-3 with his 6-3 set win.

Despite the loss, Noel Bartz played an exhausting and intense three set match that would've sent the Wolves home with a win. Bartz took the first set 6-3 but failed to get past the second, dropping the set 5-7. Both sets two and three were filled with terribly long rallies that seeped fatigue into both players. Bartz dropped the third set 5-7.

The Wolves end their 2023-24 season at Carson-Newman on Saturday, April 13th at 12 P.M.
