WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Newberry College track and field team competed for the second time in three days this evening, taking to the confines of the JDL Fast Track for the College Team Challenge.
Newberry's women produced three first-place finishers and the men had one.
Sarah Abumere had a great showing in the 60m dash, running it in a career- and meet-record 7.62 seconds. That places her third in the South Atlantic Conference and it also hit the national qualifying mark.
Mia Dionisio tied for first in the women's high jump for her first career victory while also setting a new personal best with a 1.49m jump.
Irma Watson-Peréz won the weight throw competition for the second time this week with a 17.38-meter heave. Her closest competitor in the field of 21 was 0.29m behind (11.25 inches). Irma is still atop the SAC Indoor Performance List in the category.
On the men's side,
Noel Asiedu secured his fourth straight high jump win with a 1.94m effort. Asiedu is also in first place on the SAC Indoor Performance List.
Kegan Crowell (15.39m) and
Parker Pitts (15.02m) took home second and third in the weight throw.
Both the men's and women's 4x400m relay teams earned second-place results on the night: the men's team of
Landon Tucker,
Tavarian Thompson,
Eric Jordan and
Justin Canty finished in 3:29.47. The women's quartet of Abumere,
Brittany Montgomery,
