The Wolves have competed three times previously at the JDL Fast Track this winter on Dec. 3, Jan. 21 and Feb. 8.
Men's Recent History at JDL:
At the Early Bird Invitational in December,
Noel Asiedu jumped 2.05 meters in the high jump to win the event, and
Kevin Kipkosgei finished second in the 5000m run.
In January,
Jalen Crumpton won the men's 60m dash in 6.92 seconds, and was also part of the 4x400m team that won the event;
Shamar Brown,
Kalyn Cook and
Justin Canty were the other Wolves in the relay.
Once again, Asiedu won the high jump last month with a 2.08-meter effort. That hit the national qualifying mark – he currently sits T-27th in Division II – and has him atop the SAC Indoor Performance List.
At the JDL College Team Challenge earlier this month, Asiedu won for the third consecutive time at the JDL facility, clearing a 1.94m bar in the high jump. The men's 4x400m relay team of
Landon Tucker,
Tavarian Thompson,
Eric Jordan and Canty finished second.
Kegan Crowell and
Parker Pitts finished second and third in the weight throw competition. Crowell heaved it 15.39 meters, and Pitts' went 15.02 meters.
Women's Recent History at JDL:
At the Early Bird Invitational in December,
Leonie Samuels bested her competition in the shot put event with a career-best throw of 13.03 meters to take first by nearly two feet. Also earning a first-place finish that day were the members of the 4x800m relay team:
Josie Langtry,
Kwamia Russell,
Kayleigh Geel and
Alaya Lindquist.
Irma Watson-Peréz finished third in the weight throw with a 16.83-meter effort.
In January's Flat is Fast Invitational, the Wolves produced a pair of second-place finishes: Watson-Peréz in the weight throw (16.37 meters) and
Sarah Abumere in the 60m dash (7.65 seconds).
Placing third in the 1000m run was
Alaya Lindquist. The women's 4x400m relay group of Abumere,
Mia Dionisio,
Brittany Montgomery and
Nia Quimby also took home third. Freshman
Ziya Walker's personal-best 10.34-meter triple jump earned her a third-place finish as well.
Earlier this month at the JDL College Team Challenge, the Scarlet and Gray achieved much success including three individual wins and a second-place result in a relay event.
Sarah Abumere set a then-personal-best in the 60m dash (7.62 seconds) to win. She has since topped that by a hundredth of a second (7.61 seconds at the USC Open) to sit in a tie for 51st in DII and third in the conference.
Mia Dionisio won the high jump and set a new personal record in doing so at 1.49 meters. Joining her in the win column was Watson-Peréz in the weight throw. Watson-Peréz – whose 17.96-meter throw at the Florida Collegiate Invitational has her 20th in DII – threw it 17.38 meters to win by a foot. She's also in first on the SAC Indoor Performance List in the category.
Finishing second in their event was the 4x400m relay team of Abumere, Montgomery, Quimby and Dionisio.
