Winston-Salem, NC: The Newberry Wolves men's and women's track and field team faced off against 21 other schools in their indoor season opener at JDL Fast Track.

Meah Jackson led the women in the 60-meter placing 18th overall. Jackson finished with a time of 8.12 and competed against 31 other runners.

Ja Narris Hillman ran alone in the men's 60-meter, placing 7th overall against 55 other runners. Hillman finished with a time of 7.13. Hillman ran solo in the men's 200-meter as well. Finishing in 20th with a time of 24.01.

In the women's 60-meter hurdles, Madalynn William led the Wolves finishing in 17th place. William ran against 28 other runners and finished with a time of 9.74.

Rahyme Christian placed 3rd against 20 other runners in the men's 60-meter hurdles prelims. He finished the race with a qualifying time of 8.27. In the finals, Christian finished 2nd with a time of 8.08.

In the Women's 200-meter, Jameria Davis finished 10th place with a time of 27.07. She competed in the race with 30 other runners.

Shamar Brown with an amazing run in the men's 400-meter, placing 1st place with a time of 50.60. Landon Tucker followed not too far behind, placing 2nd with a time of 51.70. Nehemiah Smith keeping up with the rest of the pack finished in 5th with a time of 53.42.

Brittany Montgomery led the way in the Women's 400-meter with a time of 1:05.59. Montgomery placed 8th place out of 27 other runners.Â

Kayleigh Geel led the women's 1 mile with a time of 5:56.00. Geel placed 16th out of 29 other runners.

The men's 3000-meter was led by Tyler Shumate who placed 17th. His total run time was 9:38.60.

Joshua Steele jumped a distance of 6.07 meters for the men's long jump landing him 18th place. In the triple jump, Steele was able to jump 13.16 meters, placing him in 11th. Briannaa Redmond led with a jump of 5.05 meters for women's long jump and finished in 13th.
Isabel Farup led the Wolves in the women's long jump, placing 3rd overall. Farup jumped 1.62 meters, which sets a new college record.

Leonie Samuels placed 6th in the women's shot put with a distance of 11.72 meters, landing her in 6th place. The men's shot put was led by Jhayden Gattison who landed a distance of 11.23 meters, placing him in 20th.

In the men's weight throw, Sean Price led the Wolves with a 15 meter throw, placing 5th overall. For the women's weight throw, Kennedy Myers placed 6th with a throw of 13.11 meters.

The Wolves will compete next on Saturday January 18th at the Mondo College Invitational, located in Winston-Salem NC.
