Box Score Hartsville, SC- On Tuesday, October 8th, the Newberry College Wolves Field Hockey team competed against the Coker University Cobras. With a strong performance, the Wolves secured a 5-0 victory, enhancing their overall record to 8-1 and their conference standing to 4-1, while the Cobras remained at 0-6 overall and 0-6 in the conference.

During the first period of the game, both teams committed fouls early on, with Newberry receiving 10 and Coker receiving 14. Each team tried to establish control, but neither found their footing. Newberry attempted the first goal, but it was saved by Coker's Eve Sekcinski. The second period began with more fouls, but Newberry managed to put the first point on the board at the 18:36 mark, with
Emma Westbrook scoring the goal, assisted by
Tamsin Bangert (1-0). Newberry quickly followed up with another goal at 21:34, this time scored by
Kaylee Bisset and assisted by Westbrook (2-0). They then added a third goal, with
Lieke Varenkamp scoring and
Finet Heemskerk providing the assist.

During the first half of the game, Newberry earned six penalty corners, while Coker had one. Coker recorded six saves, compared to Newberry's three. Newberry also took 14 shots, while Coker managed just five. As the game moved into the second half, the Wolves netted another goal at the 34:55 mark, bringing their total to four.
Parker Keeler scored, with the assist going to
Wibien Dahmen. Just after their fourth goal, Newberry found the net one last time at 36:25, with
Parker Keeler netting it unassisted. Coker was unable to respond, finishing the matchup without scoring. Bangert also achieved the record for most career assists following tonight's matchup.

Newberry demonstrated a strong defensive performance, limiting Coker to just five shots during the game while generating 24 of their own. The Wolves will be on the road again to face the Lander University Bearcat at 2 PM on Saturday, the 12th.
