Box Score Newberry, SC-- The Wolves Field Hockey team competed against the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial. After a thrilling 60 minutes of play, Newberry emerged with a decisive 4-1 victory.
During the first period, the Wolves took control right from the start, scoring just 44 seconds into the game with a goal by
Tamsin Bangert, assisted by
Stembile Chikoore. They extended their lead with another goal from
Emma Westbrook at the 4-minute mark, assisted by
Wibien Dahmen. Additionally,
Kyla Cooke made two impressive back-to-back saves.
As the second period began, Lincoln Memorial responded with their first and only goal of the game at the 20-minute mark. The Wolves maintained control, forcing the Railsplitters to commit 11 fouls in the first half alone. After halftime, the Wolves kept the gas on the pedal with a nice setup shot from
Finet Heemskerk at the 36-minute mark.
The Wolves clinched the final goal of the game at the 56-minute mark, with
Parker Keeler finding the back of the net, assisted by
Lieke Varenkamp. Newberry will continue their homestretch with the final game of the regular season against Converse at 11 a.m. on November 2.
