WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Taking to the JDL Fast Track for the Flat is Fast Invitational to kick off the New Year, the Newberry College track and field team had three first-place finishes on the men's side and a new school record in the men's high jump.
The women's team boasted a second-place result and a trio of third-place finishes over the course of Sunday.
Sophomore
Noel Asiedu followed up his first-place result at the Early Bird Invitational on Dec. 3 with an even-better 2.08m high jump for a new Newberry record and another first-place result.
The mark is currently tied for 14th-best in all of Division II and hit the NCAA Provisional, and his next closest competitor at the meet jumped 1.98m. Asiedu leads the South Atlantic Conference's Indoor Performance List in the category.
Jalen Crumpton won the 60m dash with a time of 6.92 seconds to lead the Wolves' sprinters. Crumpton and his 4x400m teammates

Kalyn Cook and
Justin Canty also earned a first-place finish in their relay. Clocking in at 3:34.13, the quartet bested the field by 1.54 seconds.
Kegan Crowell had a career-best effort in the weight throw at 14.93m to finish third ahead of teammate
Parker Pitts' 14.8m throw in fourth.
Sarah Abumere led the pack on the women's side by finishing second in the 60m dash. Her time of 7.65 seconds was just .06 seconds off the lead and hit the NCAA Provisional mark. It puts Abumere in fourth place on the SAC Indoor Performance List.
Alaya Lindquist ran the 1000m event in 3:20.67 to finish third while the women's 4x400m team likewise finished third. The quartet of Abumere,
Mia Dionisio,
Brittany Montgomery and
Nia Quimby ran it in 4:23.22.
Freshman
Ziya Walker took home another third-place finish for the Scarlet and Gray in the triple jump with a 10.34m effort.
The Wolves are back in action this Friday and Saturday (Jan. 26 and 27) at the Alachua County Collegiate Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
