NEWBERRY – After a defensive battle that saw the score tied at zero for the game's first 51 minutes, the Newberry College men's soccer team fell 4-0 to the No. 8 Limestone Saints on Wednesday night at the Smith Road Complex.
Junior
Ethan Orozco nearly scored the first goal of the game in the 29th minute but was thwarted by the Saints' goalkeeper.
Early in the second half,
Jose Puente fired a shot to the top left corner of the net that was gathered in by the opposing netminder before Limestone opened the scoring a few minutes later.
The Saints followed their first goal with another in the 63rd minute on a penalty kick before adding two goals 12 seconds apart in the 87th minute.
Newberry will look to rebound on the road this Saturday (Sept. 23) in a South Atlantic Conference tilt against Lincoln Memorial. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
