No. 9 Wolves Hit the Road to Wingate for Mid-Week SAC Matchup

NEWBERRY- The Newberry College field hockey team hits the road for their first conference road game Tuesday night at Wingate University to face the Bulldogs at Graham Gill Field. The match is set to start at 6:00 p.m.
 
Scouting the Wolves
  • The Wolves enter their first SAC road game with a 6-0 record and nationally ranked after defeating "The Rock" of Slippery Rock University in a non-conference matchup Saturday at Setzler Field 4-1.
  • In the win vs. Slippery Rock, junior forward Tamsin Bangert added a goal and an assist. Sophomore Lieke Varenkamp had two goals in three games in the past week, as she added her second on Saturday's victory. Emma Westbrook had a stellar week as she scored two highlight goals out of the three that were scored throughout the week.
  • On the defensive end, the Wolves only allowed six shots in the past two games. Senior Payton Findlay has two defensive saves this season for the Wolves.
Scouting the Bulldogs
  • The Bulldogs enter Tuesday's contest with a 2-4 record and a 2-3 SAC record. Wingate lost to Slippery Rock 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in a rainy contest at Wingate.
  • The Bulldogs are led by freshman defender Novy Schrijvers, and senior midfielder Rylie Cordrey. Both have five goals on the season.
