No. 9 Wolves Finish Home Stretch with The Rock

NEWBERRY- The Newberry College field hockey team will finish their four-game home stretch at 11:00 a.m., this Saturday, as they will face The Rock of Slippery Rock University.

Scouting the Wolves
  • The Wolves are fresh off a 3-1 victory Thursday evening over the Cobras of Coker University. Newberry is currently off to a 5-0 start which marks the best start to a season in program history.
  • In the win vs. Coker, goals were scored by Tamsin Bangert, Emma Westbrook and Lieke Varenkamp. The Wolves jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first half and never looked back. Bangert currently has seven goals on the season which leads the team.
Scouting The Rock
  • Slippery Rock is currently 1-3 on the season with their lone win coming in a shootout victory over Maryville. The Rock are coming into Saturday's contest after battling the Valkyries of Converse but losing 2-1.
  • Junior forward Gianna Conti leads The Rock with two goals on the season on only three shots on goal. Those two goals came in the 3-2 win over Maryville.
