ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Newberry College men's outdoor track and field team was selected seventh in the South Atlantic Conference preseason poll released today.
Newberry accumulated 58 points in the poll, three points ahead of Anderson in eighth, and eight points behind Tusculum in sixth.
Wingate took the top spot in the poll, garnering 11 first-place votes and 121 points. Lenoir-Rhyne earned the other first-place vote and 111 points to take second.
Carson-Newman, Catawba and Limestone took third through fifth place, collecting 98, 88 and 86 points, respectively. Earning 42 points and the ninth position was Lincoln Memorial. Emory & Henry (28 points), Coker (22) and Mars Hill (17) rounded out the poll.
The Newberry College men's outdoor track and field team competes today and tomorrow at the Trojan Opener in Anderson, South Carolina, to start the outdoor season.
