Four Wolves Named to the Bachman Honor Society

Dance Coach Lauren Alston, Field Hockey's Lily Drury, Wrestling's Bowdy Boyce, and Men's Basketball's Luke Seals join the Bachman Honor Society.

NEWBERRY – Three Newberry College student athletes along with Dance head coach Lauren Alston were named to the Bachman Honor Society announced at the December Commencement this morning at the Wiles Chapel on the Newberry College Campus.

Field Hockey's Lily Drury, Wrestler Bowdy Boyce, and men's basketball's Luke Seals were named to the Bachman Honor Society before getting their degrees at commencement.

The Bachman Honor Society was founded on March 15, 1962, by a group of faculty members, who were members of Phi Beta Kappa, and others who were deeply committed to fostering high standards of scholarship.

The Society is named for the Reverend John Bachman, D.D., churchman and scholar, and the primary guiding force in the founding of Newberry College.

Each year the Society inducts new members selected from the top eight percent of the senior class. New members, who may also include one member of the faculty or staff, are recognized at Awards Day Convocation and at Commencement.
