INMAN, S.C. – Playing in their final tournament of the fall season, the Newberry College women's golf team earned a third place finish at the Converse Fall Invite at Woodfin Ridge.
Noelia Adkins (3rd place) and
Nicole Strydom (T-4th) were named to the All-Tournament team.
Newberry shot a combined 924 over the 54-hole tournament consisting of 15 teams and 81 players, which was only six shots off the winning score – Coker's 918.
Catawba was second overall (923), a shot ahead of the Wolves. Fourth and fifth were North Greenville (929) and Shorter (931).
Adkins had a steady and impressive performance throughout the tournament, shooting 74-73-74 for a three-round total of 221 (+5) on the par-72 course. She also had eight birdies, which was tied for the fifth most in the field.
Strydom had the Wolves' best round over the two-day event, carding a 1-under 71 today after scoring 76 and 75 in the first two rounds to finish with score of 222 (+6). Her 12 birdies led all competitors.
Sofia Liden, who had an eagle on the par-5 14th in the second round, improved her score in each successive round, shooting 83-80-76 to finish in a tie for 33rd.
Blanca Noriega also carded an eagle in the second round, hers coming on hole No. 4, a par 5.
Aubree Clements rounded out the scoring for the Wolves, putting together rounds of 81-76-85 and tied for 40th place.
Julie Hoscalkova, playing as an individual for the Wolves, had a three-round final score of 237 to place herself in a tie for the 28th position.
Ashton Thomas, also an individual, shot 85-82-82 over her trio of rounds.
Newberry will now look to 2024 and the spring season in a few short months.
