NEWBERRY – The Newberry College field hockey team heads to Greenwood Wednesday evening to face the Bearcats of Lander at Emerald High School.
 
The Wolves defeated the Bearcats earlier this month in an electric 4-3 match. Both the Bearcats and the Wolves are tied for second place in the SAC now with Mount Olive taking the season championship.
 
Scouting the Wolves.

• The Wolves enter this match with a 12-3 record and a 9-3 SAC mark. The Wolves lost to Belmont Abbey last Friday 4-2 in Clover, S.C.
• Forwards Emma Westbrook and Tamsin Bangert will finish the season at number one and two all-time with most goals in a season with 20 and 14 goals on the season. Westbrook leads the SAC with 20 goals and 44 points this season.
• Newberry still as a team holds their opponents to 1.8 goals per game. Senior center back, Payton Findlay leads the Wolves with three defensive saves this season.

Scouting the Bearcats

• Lander will enter this match with a 10-4 record and a 9-3 SAC record. The Bearcats are coming from a road trip to Pennsylvania last weekend where they split two games defeating no. 8 Millersville 3-2 and lost to no. 3 Kutztown 2-1.
• The Bearcats on the defensive end are led by goalkeeper Isabel Elenga. Elenga won SAC defensive player of the week for this week, has 37 saves on the season.
• On the offensive side, Lander is led by Aniek Vreeken. Vreeken has 21 points on the season with nine goals and three assists.
