The Newberry Wolves women's team dropped their first game of the year 1-0 Friday night against St. Leo.
The lone goal of the night came off of the foot of St. Leo freshman forward Alex Collighan in the 26th minute.
The Lions out-shot the Wolves 15-7 in the contest including a 6-2 edge in shots on goal. The Wolves' goalkeepers out-saved the Lions' goalkeeper Maitane Bravo.
Sophomore keeper
Kalee Opalka (Lexington, Ky.) started in the box for the Wolves and recorded three saves. She allowed the lone goal of the night. Freshman keeper
CC Brookes (Winter Garden, Fla.) played the entire second half in the goal for the Wolves and recorded two saves and allowed no goals.
The team is back in action Aug. 28 at Florida Southern, wrapping up a two-game road trip. The match is set to start at 11:00 a.m.
