ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Newberry men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Anderson Trojans Thursday night, dropping them to 0-2-1 on the season.
The lone goal came in the 31st minute when Augustin Ortiz took a corner kick for the Trojans and found the head of Harry Ward, who slipped the ball past Newberry goalkeeper
Jacob Williams.
The Wolves started swarming in the final 10 minutes of the game, taking a pair of corner kicks, though they were unable to convert on either of them. Newberry had a pair of scoring chances in the closing minute but both were called offside.
Early in the second half
Dan Stryffeler nearly scored for the Wolves, but his shot hit the crossbar.
Tommaso Davico took a shot two minutes later but it was blocked before reaching the net. In total, the Wolves had six shots on the game, compared to eight for the Trojans. Newberry had five corner kicks, compared to five for the Trojans.
Davico led the Newberry offense, with a pair of shots, one of which was on goal in 45 minutes played.

Harry McDonnell and Stryffeler all had shots for the Wolves.
Jacob Williams played all 90 minutes in goal for the Wolves, making four saves.
