NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Newberry field hockey team won their second game of the year against the Crusaders of Belmont-Abbey College here at Setzler Field by a final score of 4-1. The Wolves move to 2-0 on the year and 2-0 in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas play with the victory.

Caitlin Wassermann led the offensive attack for the Wolves with a combined two assists, a goal and two shots on goal. Senior forward
Farai Kawonde also pitched in with a goal and and two shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper
Grace Lee had four saves and gave up only one goal in a complete game victory and moved to 2-0 as the Newberry netminder this season.
After a scoreless first quarter, Newberry struck home early in the second period. Wassermann put it home to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead. Ten minutes later, Kawonde scored her second goal of the season on a pass from Wassermann to make it 2-0 Wolves.Â
Five minutes into the fourth quarter, Newberry scored their third goal of the game on a corner from Drury. But after a goal from the visitors five minutes later, Newberry put the Crusaders away for good on a goal from sophomore defender
Marissa Plumer, coming off of a Pirozzi assist with two minutes remaining in the game.
