Newberry Continues Homestand Against Converse

Wolves Looking for Seventh Straight Win Over Valkyries

Newberry, S.C. - After a hard fought win on Wednesday night, the Newberry Field Hockey team returns to action on Saturday as they welcome the Converse Valkyries to Setzler Field. The game is scheduled to start at 2 PM.

Storylines:
  • Sophomore Lily Drury scored the game winning goal on Wednesday night in Newberry's exciting 3-2 win over Queens, her second of the season and fourth of her career
  • Freshman Yasmin De Meyer has earned a point in half of the Wolves' matches so far this season, including Wednesday night where she scored her fourth goal.
  • Between the posts, Grace Lee is tied for third in the conference in saves and in sole possession of second in the conference in save percentage
  • Converse is also coming in on a high note as they upset the tenth-ranked Limestone Saints in double overtime on Wednesday night in Gaffney, S.C.
  • The Valkyries are allowing an average of 1.71 goals per game while scoring an average of 1.57 goals per game
  • Converse is lead offensively by Lotte Kanters who leads the team in goals with four and points with 10
  • The Scarlet and Gray have won six straight against Converse with their last win coming in this last spring's SACC Tournament Quarterfinals, a 2-1 win for the Wolves with Lily Drury scoring the winner in double overtime.
  • After this game, the Wolves conclude the homestand when Belmont Abbey comes to Setzler Field next Tuesday for the final regular season meeting between the two sides
