ROCK HIILL - Kristyna Oyola has been named AstroTurf Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for week four of the 2019 season.
Oyola led the Wolves offensively to a 2-0 record last week against Mount Olive (6-0) and Converse College (3-1). The senior standout from Virginia Beach, Va. initiated the scoring spree for the Wolves as she slotted a beautiful pass to the top of the circle for
Marissa Plumer to slot home against Mount Olive. Oyola's offensive attacks set the pace for the Wolves, capping off the match by scoring one herself. She received the ball inside the circle, dribbling past a defender and placing a shot past the keeper into the cage.
The senior forward scored the second goal against conference opponent Converse, which set the Wolves apart from the Valkyries. The two wins combined for a three game win streak for Newberry. Oyola's presence along with the rest of the offense, established dominance on the weekend. Oyola has now scored 14 goals and has notched 8 assists in her career at Newberry College.
The Wolves look to continue their win streak and conference success as they return home to play Coker at Setzler Field on Oct. 4 at 6:00 p.m.
