FULL RESULTS
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Newberry indoor track & field team competed at the JDL Fast Track on Sunday afternoon, posting several top-10 finishes in events.
On the Track:
Edwards Collins nearly missed out on the finals of the men's 60m hurdles, finishing in ninth with a time of 8.86.
Elijah Fulmore also competed in the event, finishing 14th with a time of 9.20. In the men's 400m,
Cameron Henderson finished 10th with a time of 53.17.
Granger Garrison,
Chandler Stanley and Fulmore also competed finishing with under 1-minute times.
Both
Elka Variste and Jalyn Dockery narrowly missed on the finals of the women's 60m, finishing 10th and 11th with times of 8.16 and 8.17 respectively. In the women's 400m,
Tahleebah Martin finished 12th overall with a time of 1:03.09 while
Tashayna Flinch finished 17th in 1:04.67.
In the Field:
Newberry had a successful day in the field, as
Isaiah Parker finished third in the men's shot put with a distance of 12.96m.
Malik Morant posted a sixth-place finish with a mark of 12.07m.
Kayshon Mitchell joined Parker as he finished third overall in the men's weight throw with a mark of 15.05m.
In the women's shot put
Gari Forehand finished 14th with a throw of 9.73m followed by
Jada Jennings' mark of 8.92 in the same event.
Octavia Grandy finished fourth in the women's weight throw with a 13.43m throw.
Kerron McCray posted the best finish in the men's high jump of the season as he posted a 1.79m mark for fourth place in the event.
Elka Variste posted an impressive finish in the women's long jump with a fifth-place mark of 5.14m.
D'Arion Johnston finished 11th in the long jump with a mark of 4.80m. Johnston also finished sixth in the women's triple jump with a 10.76m mark.
