COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Newberry men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Gamecock Inaugural on Friday and Saturday as South Carolina debuted their new indoor track facility.

In the Field:
Â
The Wolves had a strong showing in the field led by
Isaiah Parker's second place finish in the men's shot put. Parker posted a season-best mark of 13.90m in the event.
Antonio Taylor managed a mark of 12.39m for 15th place while
Malik Morant followed close behind with a 17th place mark of 12.15m.

Mya Stevens,
Gari Forehand, and
Jada Jennings competed in the women's shot put. Stevens finished 23rd with a mark of 9.96. Forehand recorded a mark of 9.85m for 25th place while Jennings recorded a throw of 9.01 for 28th.

In the women's weight throw
Octavia Grandy recorded a mark of 12.14m for 19th with
Rikaya Williams recording a 11.33m throw for 28th.

Tyrese Grant rounded out the field events with a 6.01m mark in the men's long jump for 22nd place.

On the Track:

Newberry had strong showings in the sprints at the Gamecock Inaugural as
James Glenn posted a 11th place finish in the men's 60m.
Elijah Fulmore and
Edwards Collins finished neck-and-neck in the 60m hurdles. Fulmore finished in 10th with a time of 9.02 while Collins finished in 11th with a time of 9.10.
Elka Variste lead the charge in the women's 60m with a time of 8.15 for 21st place.
Jayln Dockery followed close behind with a time of 8.24 for 28th.
Anastasia Golson and
Zharia Casteal also competed in the event, posting times of 8.61 and 8.82 respectively.
In the men's 400m
Granger Garrison posted a time of 51.35 for 17th place while
Cameron Henderson finished 29th with a time of 52.43.
In the women's 400m
Tahleebah Martin finished 29th with a time of 1:03.08 while
Tashayna Flinch followed with a time of 1:03.59 for 35th.
For long distance events,
Triston Gogol finished first in his heat in the men's mile run with a time of 4:40.56.
Quinn Wilson finished in 13th in the men's 3000m with an impressive time of 9:14.16.
Garrison, Henderson, Fulmore and Glenn all competed in the men's 4x400 with the group finishing sixth overall with a time of 3:35.43.

The Wolves will travel to the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. next Sunday at the JDL Dual Meet Madness.
