Wolves are downed by Coker College in conference play

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Newberry College men’s soccer was defeated by Coker College, 2-0, on Wednesday night.

Through the first 45 minutes of play, the score was 0-0. Newberry took three shots with two being on goal. Mario Stojkoski took a shot four minutes into the game but it was wide. Ten minutes later, Billy Decker attempted to head the ball in the goal but Coker’s goalie, Kyndle Cobb saved it. At the 28:35 mark, Davis Bryan took a shot on goal but it was saved.

Going into the second half, Newberry outshot the Cobras, 3-2. Brad Dixon made two saves in goal for the Wolves.

Coker got on the board two minutes into the second half, Aladdin Elfares scored off an assist from David Arensdorf.

Ky Tyler tried to get Newberry on the board with 30 minutes left but the shot went wide.  The Cobras got their second goal of the night at the 59:32 mark from Chris Boardelon.

With 14 minutes left in the game Quincy Kroeschell took a shot for Newberry but it went wide.

Coker took 14 shot compared to Newberry’s five. Two of the Wolves’ shots were on goal and the team took four corners. Dixon made three saves in goal for Newberry.

The Wolves are back home on Saturday, September 26 for a 4 p.m. game against Wingate.
