ABOUT NEWBERRY
Newberry defeated North Greenville University (1-0) last Wednesday giving the Wolves their first win of the season. The game was scoreless in the second half until the 87 minute mark when the Wolves put the score of the game in their favor. Before the goal, Bennett Murphy was carted off the field with a red card to make the 11 man team drop to 10, but the loss of the player for Newberry did not change anything for the team. Davis Bryan sent the ball into the back of the net for the win with just three minutes left.
ABOUT CATAWBA COLLEGE
The Catawba College men’s soccer team defeated Belmont Abbey on Saturday, 2-0. Kenny Bonilla drew first blood for the Indians with a breakaway goal in the 73rd minute. In the 84th minute, Belony Joseph would add an insurance goal for the team. Catawba keeper, Christian Watts, earned his first shutout of the season with four saves.
