NEWBERRY – The Newberry Wolves field hockey team (0-2 overall) hits the road this weekend, looking to start a winning streak after losing two games on opening weekend.
Newberry dropped its opening games to Indiana (Pa.) by a score of 3-2 in double overtime and Kutztown by a score of 4-2.
Newberry’s weekend road trip starts with an Eastern College Athletic Conference game at Lindenwood (1-2) on Friday at 6 p.m. The Wolves stay in Missouri for a neutral site game against Division III Hendrix on Sunday.

NEWBERRY NOTES
- Wolves goalkeeper Dakota Elzy had 11 saves in the loss to IUP last Saturday, six of those saves coming in the first overtime period. She ranks ninth nationally in saves per game at 8.0.
- Courtlyn Warren has three goals in two games to start off the season. Warren is tied for the ECAC lead in goals per game and is third nationally in that category.
- Hannah Collins scored a goal for Newberry in the loss to Kutztown, while Meghan Smiga and Kaitlyn Willard provided assists in the opening weekend.
LINDENWOOD
- Lindenwood (1-2) has lost two in a row, their last loss coming against Millersville by a score of 3-1. The Lions will look to get back on the winning side and work towards the ECAC DII field hockey championship. The Lions won their first game of the season with a 5-2 victory over Seton Hill.
- LU goalie Victoria Gil was named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Week after making 28 saves in the Lions’ first three games.
HENDRIX
- Hendrix has lost its first three games. The Warriors' most recent loss came against Division III No. 8 Catholic University at the Rhodes Invitational.
- Juniors Gabryele Pochron and Raychi Reger were both selected to the Longstreth/NFCHA All-Great Lakes Region Second Team last year. Both players will look to build on that and take the Warriors to a championship.
