Wolves host Mars Hill for last home game and senior day

NEWBERRY - The Newberry College women’s soccer team hosts the Lions of Mars Hill University for a conference match on Saturday, October 24, starting at 12:30 p.m. Before the game Newberry will honor six seniors: Rebecca Darley, Alexis Carrillo, Guadalupe Magana, Michelle Calmeyn, Brenda Espinoza, and Amber Sanchez.

RECORDS: As of right now, the Wolves are 4-8-2 overall and 3-6-0 in the South Atlantic Conference for the 2015 season. The Lions are 4-11 overall and 2-7 in the South Atlantic Conference so far for the season.

 NEWBERRY NOTES

  • The team defeated Brevard College 2-1 in overtime, this past Wednesday.  Calmeyn scored both goals for the Wolves.
  • The Wolves are led by Calmeyn, who has earned 28 points so far (13 goals, 2 assists). Erika Linch is behind her with 10 points (4 goals, 2 assists).
  • Carrillo has made 75 saves for a 1.57 Goals Against Average. Darley has made 35 saves for a 1.87 Goals Against Average.

MARS HILL NOTES

  • The Lions recently defeated (1-0) against Lincoln Memorial. Julia Johnson scored Mars Hill’s goal making it her third goal of the season.
  • Mars Hill is led by Maslyn Greens making 71 saves in goal for a 3.84 Goals Against Average.
  • Breona Tate leads the Lions offensively in goals with seven.
