DANVILLE, Ky – Newberry (2-9 overall) falls to Centre (6-4 overall) on Sunday afternoon at South Campus Field by a score of 4-1.

Courtlyn Warren scored the lone goal for the Wolves off a pass from Hannah Collins. Kelsey Gordon scored two goals for Centre, both coming off assists from Julie Gates. Nicole DeHerde and Hayley Barker each notched a goal for the Colonels.

The first goal of the game came from Kelsey Gordon athe the 8:38 minute mark from Julie Gates. That is Gordon’s first goal of the year. The Colonels would take seven shots in the opening frame, while taking four penalty corners. Kelsey Gordon scored her second goal of the game at the 19:34 minute mark. Newberry would get three shots off in the first half, the first one coming from Courtlyn Warren at the 20:18 minute mark.

The Colonels opened up the second half with a penalty stroke goal from Nicole DeHerde at the 38:03 minute mark. Less than two minutes later, Hayley Barker scored a goal of her own to put Centre up 4-0. Newberry would score their lone goal late in the half at the 65:26 minute mark when Hannah Collins hit Courtlyn Warren who put it in the back of the net.

The Wolves tallied seven shots, four of them on goal while notching eight penalty corners. Dakota Elzy tallied seven saves while teammate Allison Davis notched two saves on the afternoon.
