Box Score HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Newberry College men’s soccer fell to Lincoln Memorial, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Railsplitters scored their first goal just 10:44 into the game. Danilo da Silva took a pass from Lucas Coro to then chip it in past Newberry goalie, Brad Dixon.
Dillon Pelton took Newberry’s first shot in the 16th minute but the ball went high. Leonardo Da Silva scored Lincoln Memorial’s second goal half way through the first half. Bennett Murphy tried to answer back with a goal but the ball went high.
Henrique Rezek scored Lincoln Memorial’s third goal with eight minutes left to go in the half.
Going into halftime, Newberry was down, 3-0. Rezek scored the fourth goal for Lincoln Memorial 14 minutes in with Da Silva and Raphael Baeta receiving the assists.
Lucas Ferreira took a shot three minutes later but the shot went wide right. Ferreira took another shot two minutes after but it was saved by the Railsplitters. Not even a minute later, Mario Stojkoski looked for the back of the net but it went wide right.
Lincoln Memorial scored the final goal of the game with 16 minutes left. Victor Peres took a shot 40 yards out sending it past the Newberry goalie.
For the game, Newberry took 10 shots with three on goal. Dixon and Gabe Ward made two saves each in goal.
Newberry travels to Chowan University on Wednesday, October 14 for 3:30 p.m. play.
