Box Score

St. Charles, Mo. – Newberry received goals from Olivia Fraunfelter and Kaitlyn Willard but that wasn’t enough as the Wolves fell to the Lindenwood Lions for the second time in five days on Friday afternoon, 4-2.

Fraunfelter scored her first career goal for the Scarlet and Gray while Willard tallied her team-high 12th goal of the season.

Both sides exchanged chances on frame in the first half before the Lions found a breakthrough in the 24th minute as Ashton Lichvar played a pass to Chloe Bell who had her shot get by Wolves goalkeeper Dakota Elzy for the 1-0 lead.

Four minutes later Alison Frederick gave the Lions a 2-0 lead scoring her first of the season.

In the 32nd minute the Wolves (4-10, 0-5) cut the deficit to one as Willard set up Fraunfelter who buried a shot into the back of the cage for her first career goal.

Nine minutes into the second half Greta Banholzer stretched the Lions lead back to two as she scored her ninth goal of the season.  In the 53rd minute Lindenwood improved its lead to 4-1 as Carly Brengosz scored her second of the season.

In the 59th minute Willard scored to give the Wolves their second goal of the match to cut the Lions lead to two at 4-2 but the Wolves failed to get any closer in the final 11 minutes.

Willard’s goal and assist today have given her points in eight of her last nine matches dating back to the September 20th contest against Virginia Wesleyan, a 5-2 Newberry victory.

Courtlyn Warren, Caitlyn Warren and Kaycie Andrew also knotted attempts on frame for the Wolves in the contest.  Elzy was solid in the cage for Newberry stopping 10 of 14 shots faced in her first complete game of her collegiate career.
