NEWBERRY – The Newberry College field hockey team dropped its matchup on Sunday afternoon to conference foe Lindenwood Univeristy, 6-0.

The Wolves (4-9, 0-4) only trailed 1-0 at halftime but the Lions strung together five goals in the  fifteen span to earn the win.

In the fourth minute of the match Lindenwood’s Chloe Bell tap’s in a pass from Carly Brengosz to give Lindenwood a 1-0 lead. 

Mary Greco stood tall during the first half recording 9 saves, to keep the Wolves within one at the half. 

After allowing three goals in the second half, Greco was relieved in goal by Dakota Elzy who allowed two goals on three shots.

Despite being outshot 26-7, Newberry had multiple chances in front of the cage but could not find an opening to get on the scoreboard.

Newberry travels to Lindenwood on Friday October 24 at 5 p.m.
