Box Score

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Newberry Wolves put two goals in the net, but were defeated by the No. 2-ranked Millersville Marauders at the USA Field Hockey National Training Center, 11-2, on Sunday afternoon.

After being shut out last Sunday by the Marauders in Pennsylvania, the Wolves were limited to five shots but scored twice.

Millersville scored five times in the first half and quickly struck for three more early in the second half before Newberry scored on an own goal after a penalty corner from outside the circle was deflected into the goal by MU to make it 8-1.

The Wolves found the goal again in the 67th minute after Courtlyn Warren (Richmond, Va.) scored following a penalty corner. Kaitlyn Willard (Stevensville, Md.) earned the assist on the goal.

Newberry was under seige by a strong Marauders offense all afternoon, facing 39 shots. Morgan Downey (Millersville, Md.) made 15 saves in the contest, while Katie Thompson (Newark, Del.) made a defensive save.

The Wolves are now 0-10 on the season and are next in action on Friday, October 25, in St. Charles, Mo., at Lindenwood.
