Wolves drop 8-3 decision at Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Newberry Wolves withstood a barrage of offensive pressure from the Sewanee Tigers but ultimately fell by a 8-3 scoreline at a foggy Puett Field on Thursday afternoon.

Kaitlyn Willard (Stevensville, Md.) had a goal and an assist in the second half, while Karissa Dodson (Glen Burnie, Md.) and Courtlyn Warren (Richmond, Va.) each had second half goals.

Newberry conceded four goals in each half, but goalkeeper Morgan Downey (Millersville, Md.) held up well, making a career-high 23 saves as the Tigers unleashed 43 shots in the contest. Erin Eisenhauer (Bluffton, S.C.) also contributed to the defensive effort with a defensive save.

The Wolves' offense struggled in the first half, taking only one shot, but responded well in the second half with 15 shots.

Newberry falls to 0-9 on the season and will face No. 2 Millersville at the National Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va., on Sunday afternoon.
