Box Score NEWBERRY - For the second game in a row Newberry's Gabrielle Brodie scored twice to lead the Wolves to victory as Newberry topped Limestone 2-0 at the Newberry Soccer Field.
After playing the opening 37 minutes of the match a man down, Newberry (2-0-1) was able to even things out and return to 11 players on the pitch in an opening period that saw the Wolves outshot 7-6 by the visiting Saints (1-2-0).
In the second half it was Brodie who opened the games scoring when the native of New Zealand finished a cross from senior Cassie Smith (Spartanburg, S.C.). Brodie's opening goal was the eventual game winner from about eight yards out.
Following Brodie's goal in the 48th minute strike, the Wolves' sophomore completed the brace by chipping the Saints' keeper from 30 yards out. Brodie also scored two goals in the Wolves' last match, a 5-0 victory over Bob Jones University.
Brodie and sophomore Morgan Cox (Perth, Western Australia, Australia) led all players with three shots. Sophomore Brayden Miller (Lyman, S.C.) and senior Amber Chase (Aiken, S.C.) added two shots to the Wolves' shot total.
Freshman Rebecca Darley (Wolcott, Conn.) earned her first collegiate victory in her first collegiate start, while recording a clean sheet and making three stops between the posts.
Newberry outshot Limestone on the match 12-10, while also holding the advantage in corner kicks 7-5.
The Wolves hit the road on Saturday when Newberry travels to Belmont, N.C. for a 1 p.m. showdown with Belmont Abbey.
