DUE WEST - For the first time in over a month the Newberry women's soccer team scored more than two goals as the Wolves rode a two-goal outing from Gabrielle Brodie to a 4-2 road victory over Erskine at Huggins Field.

Erskine (3-11-1) opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Ashley Reeves scored her second goal of the season for the Flying Fleet. Newberry (6-7-3) answered in the 43rd when sophomore Brayden Miller (Lyman, S.C.) delivered a cross to freshman Brittany Singleton (Canton, N.C.) who placed a shot inside the post for her first career goal.

The second half opened with a penalty call by the center official, which saw Erskine's Kimrey Angotti-Smith score her first goal of the season in the 60th minute.

Three minutes later Miller hit the crossbar with a shot, which was followed by a rebounded header goal by Brodie (Rolleston, Canterbury, New Zealand). Miller was credited with her second assist of the match on Brodie's 63rd minute score.

In the 64th minute senior Katie Sas (Columbia, S.C.) sent a corner kick into the box, which was corralled by Miller who slotted a shot past the diving Erskine goalkeeper to put the Wolves up 3-2. Miller's goal was her fifth of the season.

Brodie put the match out of reach in the 83rd minute when she stole the ball from an Erskine defender and dribbled down the pitch before finishing the possession with her second goal of the match. The Kiwi's second goal of the match was her ninth of the season.

Newberry outshot Erskine 13-8 on the afternoon, led by Miller's six tries.

Sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Cox (Perth, Western Australia, Australia) recorded one save, while picking up her fifth victory of the season.

Miller recorded her second multi-assist match of the season, while Brodie posted her third multi-goal match of the year. Miller's two assists give her four on the season, and 10 on her career - putting the sophomore in sole possession of No. 6 in the Newberry record book for career assists. With four points on the day, Brodie is now No. 10 in career points at Newberry with 31, while Miller's four points put her just outside the top ten with 30 career points.

The Wolves return to South Atlantic Conference action on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. road match at Brevard. Newberry will wrap up the 2012 regular season on Saturday with a Senior Day home match against Lincoln Memorial at 1:30 p.m.
