Kinner scores a pair in Wolves win over Limestone

Box Score

GAFFNEY - The Newberry women's soccer team earned its second victory of the season in a 2-1 match against Limestone thanks to a two-goal performance by junior midfielder Tiffany Kinner.

After a scoreless first half, Kinner (North Myrtle Beach, S.C.) made a run into the 18-yard box where freshman Brayden Miller (Lyman, S.C.) found her with a well placed cross. Kinner corralled the cross and deposited the ball into the back of the net to give the Wolves (2-1-0) a 1-0 lead over the Saints (1-2-0).

Kinner added a second tally in the 81st minute when she poked in a goal during a scramble in front of the goal mouth.

Limestone scored in the 86th minute as Macy Simpson beat Rhoades from 30 yards out.

The match is the first multi-goal performance of Kinner's collegiate career and gives her four career tallies.

Miller's assist is the first of her career.

Senior Emily Rhoades (Buckley, Wash.) earned her second victory of the season in a six-save performance between the posts for the Wolves.

Newberry continues its early road schedule on Saturday at Queens University of Charlotte. The Wolves and Royals are scheduled to kickoff at 6 p.m.
