Box Score WINGATE, N.C. - The Newberry women's soccer team dropped its second consecutive match Wednesday evening in a 4-0 conference loss at Wingate.
Wingate (7-2-0, 2-0-0 South Atlantic Conference) opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Jade Montgomery scored her first goal of the night. The Wolves (6-4-0, 3-2-0 SAC) misplayed a Wingate set piece less than ten minutes after the first goal, and an errant header resulted in an own goal and put the Bulldogs up 2-0.
Montgomery struck again in the second half when a Megan Mastalerz corner kick was headed into the goal for Montgomery's fourth goal of the season. Shelby Forza scored with under ten minutes left in the match to give the Bulldogs a 4-0 win.
Newberry senior goalkeeper Emily Rhoades recorded six saves in the match.
The Wolves will look to rebound on Saturday when they travel to Barton for a 2 p.m. non-conference match.
