VASS, N.C. � The Newberry College women�s golf team finished tied for second place after day two at the St. Andrews Spring Invitational at the Woodlake Country Club in Vass, N.C. Tuesday morning.

After a first round 337, the Lady Indians shaved two strokes off Monday�s team score to complete the tournament with a stroke total of 672. Newberry shared second place with St. Leo University while Pfeiffer University won the tournament with a team score of 639.

Individually, Newberry�s Franziska Blum (Schweinfurt, Germany) followed a first day 79 with a 75 on Tuesday to tie for second place with a two-day total of 154. Senior Ashley Ratcliff (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) completed round two in fourth place with a stroke total of 155.

The individual tournament champion was Brittany Beltran of Pfeiffer University. Beltran shot a 149 and finished five-over par.

Newberry will be in action next on March 30 at the Ralph Hargett Memorial Invitational in Wingate, N.C.
