Box Score HICKORY, N.C. - The Newberry College women's soccer team (6-7-1, 4-3-0 SAC) lost their first half lead as Lenoir-Rhyne (10-4-2, 2-2-1 SAC) came from behind to win, 3-1.
The scarlet and gray led off the scoring in the 12th minute, when Megan Douglas (Bradford, England) took a pass from Lauren Carbonell (Miami, Fla.) that she shot past the Lenoir-Rhyne goalkeeper to put Newberry up 1-0.
Newberry held onto the 1-0 lead as the match went into halftime.
In the 52nd minute, Lenoir-Rhyne's Laura Linehan (San Diego, Calif.) hit the equalizer for the Bears with a crossing pass from Rebecca Lin (Northridge, Calif.) that she one-timed into the back of the net.
Linehan gave the Bears the lead in the 56th minute on a pass that came from Kaelia Frazier (Cedar Falls, Iowa).
Frazier put the Bears up 3-1 in the 72nd minute, when she converted a deflection off the scarlet and gray goalkeeper Emily Rhoades (Buckley, Wash.).
Rhoades had four saves in the game as her record goes to 6-7-1 on the season.
The scarlet and gray will try to rebound from the loss as they return home for a non-conference match against Anderson University on October 22nd at 4 p.m. Newberry will finish up its season with a road match at Carson-Newman on November 1st at 6 p.m.
