Box Score GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - Bruno Conceicao recorded a hat-trick to lead the Tusculum College men's soccer team to a 7-2 South Atlantic Conference win over Newberry College Saturday night at Pioneer Field. Tusculum (5-5-1, 2-1 SAC) evens its overall record, while the Indians fall to 7-4 overall, 1-2 in SAC.
Conceicao finished with three goals and an assist in the win while Lucas Paulini added a goal and three assists in the victory. For Conceicao, it was his seventh, eighth and ninth scoring tallies of the season.
Tusculum took a 2-0 lead in the first half as Enrique Haeussler notched his first goal in a Pioneer uniform in the 10th minute on an assist Dean Hopewell. Telmo Dantes gave Tusculum a 2-0 advantage with his third goal of the year, coming at the 25:43 mark, which was assisted by Conceicao and Paulini.
TC jumped out to a 4-0 advantage with a pair of goals to open the second period. Conceicao scored the first of his hat-trick in the 62nd minute on an assist by Dantes. Paulini knocked home his fifth goal of the year five minutes later on a pass by Haessler.
Jarvis Snyder (Lafayette, La.) got Newberry on the board in the 69th minute with his third goal of the season, which was assisted by Ben Mottel (North Augusta, S.C.) and Shane Abbott (Myrtle Beach, Fla.).
Hopewell found the back of the net for the first time this year in the 70th minute while Conceicao scored the final two goals of the night for Tusculum to round out the scoring for Tusculum.
Newberry's Jovon Rochford (Arima, Trinidad) added a late goal at the 81:22 mark for the Indians.
Tusculum keeper Lance Moore finished with eight saves on the night, while Newberry's Will Dieterich (Tampa, Fla.) added six stops in goal.
Tusculum has gone 3-0-1 in its last four matches and will host Mars Hill College Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. league tilt at Pioneer Field. Newberry will entertain Wingate University Wednesday at 4 p.m.
