Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Georgia College and State University defeated Newberry College, 1-0, in NCAA Division II women's soccer action Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Lady Indians to 7-5-5 on the season.
GCSU's Hayley Ferrell scored her 15th goal of the season in the 66th minute to break the scoreless tie.
Newberry had five shots and seven corner kicks in the game, but the Lady Indians were unable to beat Bobcats goalie Mary Rob Plunkett who had three saves in the first shutout of her collegiate career. Brooke Tumblin (Florence, S.C.), Elizabeth Jones (Anchorage, Alaska), and Adriana Farfan (W. Palm Beach, Fla.) all had shots on goal in the game.
The Lady Indians' next game is Saturday, October 27, at 2 p.m. when they host South Atlantic Conference rival Carson-Newman in their final regular season match. Next Saturday is also Senior Day for the Newberry Lady Indians as the team will honor its 11 seniors before the game.
