Box Score NEWBERRY - Newberry College scored all of its goals in the second half en route to a 4-0 victory over visiting Brevard College in non-conference women's soccer action here Thursday.
Newberry (7-6-2) outshot Brevard (2-12-0) by a margin of 26-4 in the match. Danielle Beckerle (St. Louis, Mo.) and Johanna Rathbun (Hurst, Texas) combined for the shutout in the Lady Indians' goal.
Brooke Tumblin (Florence, S.C.) opened the scoring for Newberry in the 47th minute, netting a goal after a quick one-two from Mandi Butler (Holly Springs, N.C.) and Elizabeth Jones (Anchorage, Alaska).
Christy-Lea Smith (Castle Rock, Colo.) earned her first collegiate point when she assisted Inga Woiwode (El Paso, Texas) for the second goal of the game in the 71st minute. The goal was Woiwode's eighth of the season, and 19th point of the year.
Katelyn Luby (Charleston, S.C.) scored her second goal of the season when she blasted home a rebound in the 79th minute.
The scoring was closed by Lauren Carbonell (Miami, Fla.) in the 89th minute as she volleyd home a cross from Luby. Alie Brady (Summerville, S.C.) also picked up an assist on the play.
The match was the last home match of the season for Newberry, which travels to North Carolina on Saturday to face off against South Atlantic Conference foe Lenoir-Rhyne College. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
