Box Score PHILIPPI, W. Va. - The Newberry men's soccer team scored two goals in each half to preserve a 4-2 victory at Alderson-Broaddus College this evening. The Indians, who are in the midst of a five-game road trip, improve to 2-4-1 overall and 1-3 in South Atlantic Conference play. The Battlers fall to 4-5-0 overall.
Freshman forward Sammy Siasia (Atlanta, Ga.) got Newberry off to a good start with his first half goal. Junior midfielder Chad Domis (Columbia, S.C.) added another goal before halftime, making the score 2-0 at the break.
The second half featured a strong comeback by the Battlers, as they tied the score at two a piece. However, the Indians overcame the attack by netting two more second half goals. Junior forward Jeffrey Taylor (Sumter, S.C.) capitalized on a penalty kick while freshman midfielder Akil Burgen (Trincity, Trinidad) scored his first goal of the season.
The Indians travel to the University of Charleston (W. Va.) for a 2 p.m. game on September 25th. Alderson-Broaddus will host Presbyterian College on September 25th at 1 p.m.
