Indians go two in a row at home with win over Limestone

Box Score

NEWBERRY - Newberry College scored twice in the first 12:30 of the first half and fought off several rally attempts to defeat Limestone College 2-1 in men's soccer action Wednesday evening at the Newberry College Soccer Complex. The 2-0 start matches the program's best-ever 2-0 start in the 2001 season.

Newberry opened up the scoring less than six minutes in, when freshman Chad Domis (Columbia, S.C.) got the Indians on the board with a goal on a direct kick.

Newberry then added its second goal off the foot of sophomore Shawn Liesch (Kissimmee, Fla.), when he put through a corner kick from freshman Jeffrey Taylor (Sumter, S.C.) at the 12:29 mark.

Later in the half, Limestone cut the lead in half when sophomore Juan Trujillo (Altanta, Ga.) found himself open and beat keeper Tim Seibert (Harrisburg, N.C.) one on one. It was the first goal allowed by Siebert this season.

Newberry will take on St. Andrews College Saturday at 2 p.m. at home.
