Box Score SALISBURY, N.C. - Catawba College remained undefeated in league play with a 5-0 win over visiting Newberry in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action on Wednesday night at Frock Field. Catawba now stands at 5-1-1 overall and 2- 0 in the SAC, while Newberry falls to 6-3 and 1-2.
Sophomore Kenny Crowe (Reeders, PA) started the scoring 4:18 into the first half, his third of the year, off a Ryan Frommel (Houston, TX) corner kick. Frommel then added his second helper of the night in the 34th minute when Ryan Hudgins (Poquoson, VA) picked up his third of the year. The first half scoring would conclude on a Nathan Zuzga (Troy, MI) free kick that deflected off a Newberry defender and found the back of the net to put the Tribe up 3-0 at the half.
Catawba wouldn't waste any time in the second half adding on to their lead. Just two minutes into the half, Zay-Zay Gilewala (Monrovia, LIBERIA) tallied his team-leading eighth of the year from a Tyler Kulp (Ephrata, PA) assist. The final Catawba goal of the night came in the 86th minute when senior Brennan Regnar (Mebane, NC) found the back of the net for the second time this season, Kulp contributing his second assist on the night. Carl McMahon (Sydney, AUSTRALIA) made his first start of the season, picking up five saves in the shutout victory.
